M1917a1
Good evening gents,
I don't know much about these but I believe this is the early WWII M1917A1 which followed the WWI type and preceeded the M1 so it kind of had a pre-ordained place in my deveoping helmet collection.
Anybody care to comment / offer more info?

Yep, what Ade said and here's some info .: World War Helmets - Casque US Model 1917 - A1 :. although it's in French the photos are very good.
