Malta helmet camo

I have been in contact with the Keep in Dorchester, & they confirm that the service number 5727826 was issued to Corporal B.J.Perry.
So is the flash for the 1st Dorsets, or as Tony R said, the 4th Batt' East Kents.

I am willing to bet the flash is for 1st Dorset whilst they were in Malta. I am sure the Keep Museum could find out for you.

They, like the East Kents museum, don't have much of a clue when it comes to Battalion sized unit badges/markings unfortunately.
I guess the net & Mk3 chin strap was added when it arrived in Sicily/Italy with the 231st Malta brigade. I bet most Malta camo's were repainted over when they arrived back in the UK ready for the invasion of Normandy in June 1944.
