Mk1*

Article about: A bit battered & bruised, but this Mk1* looks to be an early one. Rimless, Mk1 liner dated 1937 & made by HELMETS Ltd, being the first year they made Mk1 liners. Mk1 chin strap lugs

Just bought this lovely raw-edge MKI* shell on e-bay. It was being sold as an Australian shell, but I could see from the seller's photos that it was actually a British MKI*. Luckily I already had a spare 1937 dated liner in my spares box !
I was watching this and thought MKI*. I did not bid in the end as I have decided to fix a motorcycle at this time.
    Regards,

    Jerry

    Whatever its just an opinion.

    Mk1*

Saw this picture on a Facebook ww2 photo group captioned "Tommies in France, 1940" and thought you mk1* guys might be interested.

Looks like the soldier closest to the camera dons a flashed mk1*?

Yep, no doubt that is a MKI* with flash. The WW1 rim shape is so distinctive.

    Lovely photo, thanks for posting.

Well, here's today's MKI*. It is a lovely MKI*/MKII hybrid issued to the Royal Artillery. The interesting thing about this one is all the brown paper stuffed up inside the liner (presumably as insulation or padding) and the mysterious small label stuck inside the rim If anyone has any ideas what the label is for, I would love to hear .

Anyway, here are some photos :

You succumbed, not surprising really, what a beauty.
The only thing I can add about the label, Motor Transport, Heavy Regiment.

Thanks, I guess it is possible.

( Yes, I succumbed- though I had to trade a couple of lids to help pay for it - and free-up some shelf space ! )

I was going to say that shelf must be groaning under the weight, and who has two Mk1* with RA flashes. Thats just greedy.

Another e-bay addition - nothing special - just a rather plain MKI* that has clearly had a hard life. Chinstrap lugs and liner 1938 dated, MKI shell by BS.
