Mk2. 3rd Reconnaissance Battalion 3rd Div.

As of November 1940 the 8th Battalion Royal Northumberland Fusiliers (hence red helmet marking) joined the 3rd Inf' Div, as a motorcycle Batt'. On the 30th April 1941 it was transferred to the reconnaissance corps.
It stayed in the UK until 6th June 1944, when it set sail with the 3rd Div to Normandy, & on until the end of the war.

Very nice Aaron. Seen a few of these over the years - some I believed in, and some I didn't ! I quite like this one .

Did they use a stencil to paint all those lids ?

With the amount of helmets to paint, they must have found a quick and easy way to do it. Or was it just a slow laborious job to do.
