A nicely used army Mk2 with for the year 1940, textured khaki green outside & smooth in.
It has an economy small brass bolt with washer & the Simmonds elastic stop nut, which is holding in the Mk1 liner.

I have got a few MKIIs Army type helmets with these economy nuts with washers, but I've always wondered if they might be home guard . Is there any evidence the Army used the economy nuts ?
Being made of brass they are non magnetic, so no reason not to be used on an army helmet.
But have no information one way or the other whether they were just used on HG helmets.
But someone we know would have the answer.
Were the washers added as an after-thought ? Seems an odd change to make to the old MKI screw.
To me there doesn't seem much difference from the Mk1/Mk2 nut and bolt and this with an washer. You also see them without the washer.
An standard army Mk2 dated 1939 with on the side in an box C.S.P.D.E. & 1-A.C.A. Have tried army abbreviation for CSPDE & Combined Services Project Development Unit, comes up. Googled that, & nothing comes of it. The chin strap also has A.C.A on too, any idea's?
This army Mk2 is dated 1939 & was produced by Clydesdale Stamping Co Ltd.
