I assume you guys are dicking about.
Royal Ulster Constabulary museum might know the answer. Try them
Ya think?!
Yeah
Just having a bit of fun.
Spoke to the curator of the museum late this afternoon. He was able to identify the officer by the service number on the chinstrap and confirm that the name I found written on the inside of the rim was his surname. He also had two dates relating to him, 1/4/34 and then 31/3/35. The first date possibly indicates his recruitment date and the second to his confirmation as a constable after a period of probation. But that would need to be confirmed.
The MK2 with RUC on it would have been issued in the 50’s and withdrawn in 1969 so unfortunately it wasn’t a wartime issue helmet but never the less interesting to have. He is going to look at photos taken during the War to establish what markings would have been used on an issue helmet during that period and get back to me.
Don't I look stupid !
Nice lid.
Never........
Ugly....but NEVER stupid..... :-)
