Mk2 POLICE w/ Mk1 anti gas curtain

A standard blue painted Police Mk2 but with the Mk1 anti gas curtain, these curtains were first introduced in late 1939. The Mk2 anti gas curtain (which covered the whole helmet ) replaced the Mk1 in June 1940.
The curtain now is very brittle & not worth opening out, the lining securing nut & bolt has been lost & has been replaced with what looks like a home made rivet, have seen this a few times.
The Mk1 liner is dated 1939 & made by VERO, haven't bothered to pull back the curtain to see date of the shell but most likely 1939.

Nice helmet Aaron, I suspect the screw and nut were period removed and replaced with the rivet. That would remove the problem of the screw being "driven down" onto the wearers skull on impact from an old ladies umbrella! Leon.
