Default Mk2. W/FG Warden Fire Guard.

Been after one of these for awhile (thanks Leon).
An W/FG, it's quite worn but the price was not to bad so here it is.
Date covered by the Mk2 chin strap lugs, which themselves are dated 38, & made by RO&Co.Liner dated 1939.
Here's a chapter from the fire guards handbook which will explain a bit why these helmets are so marked.

    Organization of the area.
Relation to the civil defence wardens service.
The fire guard organization has, for a number of reasons, been constituted as part of the wardens service. This is partly because the two are in many respects mutually dependant & operate over the same ground, & also because if a fire gets beyond the resources of the FG, the nearest wardens post will usually be the point through which the assistance of the national fire service can most rapidly be secured.
It is highly important, therefore, for the two organizations to work in close co-operation.

I like that, especially the worn look. Is the shell green outside as well?

Hi Tony, It was originally painted smooth khaki green inside & out, but has been repainted again, as there are some letters under the W/FG.
