    The most common markings on the water utilities helmets was normally RP/W (Repair Party Water) So nice to just have the word, WATER. The helmet belonged to Southport Water Board, which others I've seen also have the Company name stitched to the chin strap.
    Dated 1939, it still has it's original khaki green paint showing inside,while outside has been repainted black.
