    Default MkII GAS IDENTIFICTION SERVICE

    The Gas Identification Service was introduced in September 1939 & there helmets would have been painted black with white letters, but a year later they went over to yellow helmets with black letters. Which is probably whats happened to this helmet as there are GIS letters under the yellow paint at the rear.
    Both helmet & liner are dated 1939 & made by BMB.
