Thanks for the info. I meant if the liner was refurbished, how you could identify the shell itself from a distance, the rim being uneven is helpful bit of info.

There's no easy answer. I can usually spot one, but I'm not 100% sure I could quantify it as to why. They just look different. I think this might be a case of what Friedrich-Berthold always says about his 'foetid woollens' - you just have to study pictures or real examples of the various Brodie shells, and just develop 'an eye' for them.

Well it never even entered my mind it was a MKI* conversion lid. I coupe of weeks ago I would have had a MKIII to sit it up against for comparison but not now. We're the hits in the war registry front line units or support only?
