MKII rough finish flashed

Hello to everyone; just spotted this one in a local flea market.
I like the paint, seems a field expedient and quite aged, but I will wait for your much more experienced opinions.
And, do you know the meaning of the flash?

Hi, the paint looks good to me as well, nice pick up. As for the flash, I have no idea, but I'm sure somebody will! Leon.

Thanks Leon and thanks Aaron; About the flash, I do think you got it, it matches the flash I've seen on an helmet, described as a RAOC one.
What the RAOC did exactly during the war? The seller states that this helmet has been found in Italy, north of Tuscany.

Flash is RAOC, it matches one I have on a sun helmet.
