    I have a few items with the Orange marking.
    I was told that the equipment was used post war by france and given back to the US .I guess the marking was to prove it was given back.

    Not sure if that is right I have some NOS equipment with similar stamps, I think it is an acceptance (quality control) stamp of some sort, on electronics.

    I have the stamp on gear also.
    I really do not know that is what I was told.
    So really not sure.

    I hope you are right ,that would make me happy.
    I found a M227 years ago in a barn just outside of Sainte mere du mont Normandy.
    Everything Had that orange stamp The bag the lamp and the other parts for it.
    One of the local collector told me this was from the French military that used US equipment
    Never really like that to much.But I still have.
