    Default Mystery Helmet

I recently got this helmet at an auction and cannot figure anything out about it. There are no stamped markings or anything. Does anyone know anything about this type of helmet?

Wow, that looks mad! the basic shell reminds me of the British para/armoured/dispatch riders helmet with some zanny flanges added, the best guess is that its a wacky film prop?

I have seen one of these recently, I can't remember what it was or where it was that I saw it. Looks like it has the shame basic shape of a pickelhaube. I'm eager to find out what it is.

    Regards,

    Corey

The liner and shape remind me of a haube also, I'm intrigued.

I first thought of a Picklhaube (or however it's spelled) that's been stripped down.

My thoughts exactly. It may be something completely different. All I can say is that liner looks a lot newer then WW1.

Thanks to everyone for your help. I've finally been able to identify it as a Russian fire/civil defense helmet. It's actually quoted as being one of the most rare helmets ever produced by the USSR. It's included in a book, and I'm attaching a link to it below. If anyone is interested, I'll be posting it on ebay within a week. Thanks again! Russian Helmets, by Clawson, rare civil defense
