Question Need help dating Vietnam War M1

Ok, I know that this is generally quite far afield in terms of era and conflict for this forum - but I dont know where else to ask. The helmet itself is only missing the leather headstrap - where I believe the helmet's date of issue or use is. I dont know where else to look, and I cant find the Military records for the wearer (it is named but the sites all need money!) Any help would be much appreciated!

You will need to provide more information if you would like the guys to give you an approx. date.

The liner should be marked as well as a "Heat #" on the inside front of the steel shell. Also the cover will be marked as well

I can't help you beyond that.

Look at my old link. I might help in providing some information as to where to look and what info/pictures to supply.

Here is the stamp on the cover - and what I assume is Robert's Serial number (as written by him I presume - I've looked him up, I just cant get his military record because I cant pay for the veteran search sites) I cant see any other stamps or anything besides that. (also, random - how do I hook the chin strap back behind the helmet, that iconic 'vietnam' style of hooking the chinstrap back for me the hooks on the clips connected to the shell cant seem to go up far enough and point out to the side alot)

Contract No. 9085 is from mid 1965. Is it the deep flap cut style (at the side to accommodate the bales)? The liner might be marked on the webbing near the temples, facing the outside. Does it have a maker mark? Are the metal parts of the shell's chinstrap marked?

I like the looks of the helmet so far. I would like some more close up pics.
Sometimes the chinstraps are short and will not latch on the rear of the helmet.

More pictures (two of them show what I meant by the chinstrap clips sticking out)
