So I bought the helmet recently and can't figure out where it was used or what the insignia means. The stamping on the interior is ZR22 and it has the round rivets on the chin strap holders. (I guess this means American?) The liner is the old next looking style, but the color scheme throws me off. I believe the blue was added later?

    Sorry for the big pictures.

It could be the US VI Corps, although the shoulder patch was a 6 inside a full circle.

Thank you so much for the response! So they could have left the rest of the circle off for the stencil? I was reading that the blue color could symbolize a tank crew?

Also, what would be the best way to clean this thing up without taking too much off?

    Thanks again!

I've seen some cap badges I couldn't ID with C6 on them. Let me have a look.

I ve seen two with this marking, one was described as civil shore patrol 6th squad. The other was USN C co. Not sure what the 6 would be for in USN. Cool piece.

I don't think it's likely the gap in the circle is due to it being a stencil, because if it was, he '6' would be stencillised too, and it isn't.

Very interesting! Thanks so much for the help! So are Civil Shore Patrol helmets blue? This one seems to have been green at one point in time?
