The color for Gendarmerie helmets should be black.

This is strange, yesterday I was thinkng that I have only ever seen a Luxembourg helmet in books.

Below is a translation from La Vauzelle "les Casque du Combat-Tome 1" 1984

"LUXEMBOURG HELMET MODEL 39, TYPE ADRIAN BELGIAN MODEL M31
In 1939 the companies of volunteers and police were equipped with helmet Belgian M31, khaki for volunteers and dark blue for the police.
These helmets wore an emblem representing the small front arms of the Grand Duchy. This emblem was of gold for volunteers and silver for the Gendarmerie.
The Gendarmerie use this model helmet today."

Luxembourg was neutral and had a corps of volunteers rather than a standing army.

Based on that, Nick yours may be a post war Gendarmarie helmet, or worst case a Belgian Gendarmarie helmet with badge added, I would aslo like to see how it is attached. Eric, is this from you collection? the badge looks silver but it may be a wartime gendarmarie painted kakhi.

Probably more questions than answers, but I would be happy with either of them.

Also on the liner you can see the remains of white paint marked 38 also the way its put on it has tabs that are put through slots and then bent over. - Nick K
