I went and read the description on the sale site and it did state it is a brass raised buckle. With this seller there should be a return policy.

Again Research is key prior to large purchases to know and understand what type of fixtures and buckles were/are used on specific headgear..

The buckle looks to be an early cast brass buckle but boy those straps look so new. The bar tacking looks right. I guess I am uneasy seeing mint straps and a not so mint liner strap. I believe it is all good but wait for conformation from others.

DC,
If Bill Shea says it is original to the helmet then I trust him. His reputation in the field is one of the best

I have looked over the helmet again and have a few observations.
1. The hawley liner was made until late 42.
2. Th heat stamp would put the production of the helmet in late 42.
3. The chinstrap J hook with the square end started in mid 42.
4. The bar buckle with pointed end would be correct for 42.
So for the record the helmets looks to be correct.
