Thought it might have been earphones for the 19 set.
In the first image to me, the two on the left are wearing the US type, the commander has a steel helmet of same sort with the headset Tinlid shows, It may be case of commander wanting a bit more protection.
I'm not trying to convince anyone this is an RAC helmet, HSDR is more plausible.
