    Default Rimless MKI* F.A.N.Y. Helmet

A early birthday present from my wife if this MKI* helmet with a decal for the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry, the only example of this that I have seen.

It came from a friends collection and I had shown pictures of it a while back.

The rimless WWI shell is marked HS for Hadfield Steel, and the MKI liner is marked J.C.S & W (J Compton Sons & Webb), though the date is unclear but I think reads 1938. The chinstrap is named and number marked GIBSON w? 7252 or 3?

The FANY are most famous for providing 39 of the 50 female agents dropped into occupied France during WWII as well as providing drivers for the ATS and also had units working with the Finnish government, the Polish army and east Africa.

The name Gibson does not appear on the list of the fallen on their memorial. http://www.stephen-stratford.co.uk/wts.htm

I'd like a wife like yours please.

To me that's a cracker that can't easily be bettered. Very nice indeed.

Now that is one exceptionally nice Tin Lid Jerry there is so much going for this were does one even begin even if it had not been a F.A.N.Y. helmet the fact that it is a Mk I * alone and the condition just made this an over the top piece well done on adding this helmet to the shelf I think she would be pretty tough to upgrade on this one...

    Regards Mark
