Unidentified ww1 steel helmet. Any advice?!

I recently bought a helmet at auction which was catalogued as 'WWI French Troops Helmet'. Since the purchase, I have researched it and have been unable to find a French helmet that looks anything like this one? I think it may possibly be a Brodie helmet, but again, it doesn't quite match.

If anyone could offer any advice at all it would be greatly appreciated!

Hi. This is a WW2 British civil defence "Zuckerman" helmet and was used on the home front by fire watchers and such. Cheers.
