Westinghouse P55 liner

Article about: This helmet I recently acquired. It is to my mind a Westinghouse P55 (it might have been repainted by the Dutch). It is marked W an D35. Supposedly it was used by the Dutch defence Forces. M

There is no MICARTA stamp visible. The webbing may have been redone in The Netherlands. Examples are known to have been redone. Our Defence Forces (Especially the Navy / Marine Corps) ordered post war liners. Could you indicate why the webbing is not US?

Is there information about the Westinghouse codes: D 35? Is that based on year of production?

    Thanks for your input!

    Cheers,
    Emile

the D35 is nothing more than a number of the mould it was made in & cant be used to date the liner as for the webbing not being US i cant really explain it it just doesn't look right i looks more heavy & coarse (if that makes sense) compared to US made webbing here are some pics of a Firestone liner i have with adjustable nape strap.

    Thanks Nick,

So a post war rewebbed liner. Quite possibly rewebbed by the the Dutch MoD. It was done more often. The strap does not look US anyway.

    Thanks for your input!

in my opinion yeah the liner shell is WW2 that has been repainted & re-webbed post war but by whom & for what reason i cant honestly say its not a webbing job Ive ever seen before.

I would say post war liner, repainted and rewebbed by (probably) Dutch MoD.
