what is this chin strap?

i recently got a ww2 British helmet chin strap online and for some reason they sent me this chinstrap, which is not the one I ordered! can anyone tell me what kind of chin strap it is?

All I can say is the buckles don't look British or from The Commonwealth going by what I have. Get your money back

I think it may be a MKIII type British made helmet strap

I've a MkIII helmet how do these connect to the shell? This is my crappy example

The end part of the buckle would slip over the chin strap lug like the Mk3 elasticated one would. Although you wouldn't use Warbuff's example on a Mk3 as I think they were only used on the home front.
A bit naughty sending you that one Warbuff, unless you asked for one like that, they should have sent a normal Mk2 chin strap.

I had a pic of a Canadian soldier with one of these on his MkIII helmet...lost it now. I do think they were used in small numbers during the war.
