A black painted Mk2 with a crown & WLA for women land army, painted inside on the shell would have been the ladies name & address but all that remains is the word Doncaster.
The shell is dated 39 & made by RO&Co, the liner is also dated 39 & the makers name is M&C, this is quite unusual to find an unknown maker in 39 when normally the unknown makers seem to be from 40/41 when production of helmets & liners reached a peak after the shortfall in helmets was made up due to the losses in France & the number of helmets being needed for the ARP, home guard, fire, & police.
