ww1 or ww2 shell?

Article about: I bought this sad green painted shell the other day....for the liner more than anything, then I noticed the makers stamp and 18 batch number. Is this a ww1 shell? The chinstrap mounts are mk

    I bought this sad green painted shell the other day....for the liner more than anything, then I noticed the makers stamp and 18 batch number. Is this a ww1 shell? The chinstrap mounts are mk2 dated 1938, I seem to remember HS being a ww1 maker.

    Yes, this is WWI shell. But if the rim is stainles and the shell has new securing lug, You have MkI*.

    Thanks for that piotrek. I thouhgt it might be a ww1 shell. I need to get some paint stripper and see what under all this green paint now......carefully.
