I believe this to be an enlisted man's headgear fitting the subject description, from the WWII era. If I'm wrong in any way, or anyone can tell me more (including an idea of value), that would be excellent. Unfortunately, I have to work from this photo--I can't go back and get more/better/different angles.

Post 1953, the style and the use of a queens crown is typical, probably 1970's or newer, value about £15 at most.

The winged messenger looks to be stay bright, as well as the Queens crown, just like the ones I used to wear same style cap as well
