Denim Field Service cap

I bought this at an estate auction last night. It is different than the other Garrison hats I got there. This one is more of a denim material, and I cannot identify the buttons on the front. The style/shape, I have been told, is kind of like a British? winter hat?? The inside is named (hard to make out, but Sgt. .....). There is also the word COLLETT and a very faint date which looks like 1941. To me, this really looks like a WWI Garrison hat! Just looking for some info on this one! thanks

The buttons on yours are "General Service" pattern.

great! Thanks Ade! One more question--I am THINKING of selling it (not sure yet). I tried to do some research on eBay for prices/values, but there were none listed on ebay! Is this cap hard to find or rare? I would think if they were standard issue they should be fairly common, but I don't know much about the British WWII stuff. I will also try to research the Collette sp? maker--I'm assuming they are in Britian?? Thanks again for the help and your discussion on the cap is dead on--EXACTLY what mine is!

They are a British maker. J COLLETT. Well known maker of Army and RAF caps.

These caps are not as common as they used to be. Like all good WW2 militaria, supply is drying up. I would except to pay around £25/$35 for one.
