Any markings on the strap or the stud fittings ?
and is that a stamp on the inside ?
Im not a Japanese expert, but these may help identify it.
    Cheers Mick
Hi Mick, sorry missed your post above, .. no it seems devoid of any real identifiers, just had a look at the small tag through a "glass" ... definately something written there but it actually looks hand-written? ... looks a kinda mix between Physics symbols and English, ... I think thats due to the small black "mould" dots also on it, I might try and get an extreme close up with the camera ... there is a dark spot inside that roughly aligns with a "rippled" looking patch on the exterior,... but no marks to speak of .. thanks

ive done a quick search on the web and there seems to be a whole array of styles ,its a nice period piece all the same ,but where used im not entirely sure
Thanks Col James, Ive had a few attempts but no luck either

actually its not a "fur" liner at all is it, and it seems to be the same "felt-like" dun coloured material used in the liner of mine

This is the style of stiching and backing and button that I would expect to see for ww2 ERA if not winter?

Yepper, Phil! That does, indeed, look to be this exact kind of helmet! A shame they're so ambiguous in their identification, though! I'm thinking, in other words, that They didn't know what the heck it was any more than We do!
