Another of my pick ups from the large antique fair at Builth wells on Saturday.

In a salty condition and probably been sat in a farmers out building for the last 70 years with oxidised GS buttons. No badge but it can be seen that it had one at some time.

Not sure on the date, probably 1943 though it could be 1937 to 39?

There were some great items there way beyond my pocket and I was happy with what I got and all were for a good price IMO, so well worth the trip. Obviously most of the stalls were general antiques, including lots of furniture etc...so it took some searching among the 1000 stalls to find the military items, but thats all part of the fun of the fair.

I also picked up one other item I have yet to show, this SWBords hankie for £2.

Very nice finds Jerry and the FS cap is in alright condition for sitting in a farmers outhouse for a while.

Good items to "dig out" Jerry, I particularly like that hankie, quit an evocative piece as it's been lovingly made for a Soldier. Leon.

Nice find Jerry. I keep meaning to head over to one of the Builth shows. I saw it advertised over in Ludlow and I have heard good things. Sometimes the best deals can come from non- specialist militaria shows in my experience.

Not bad at all. These seem to making good money now...you going to clean it or leave as is?

Talking about good deals from general dealers, most of my best stuff comes from General antique dealers..i think you can get a much fairer deal sometimes....apart from the ones who think because its ww2 it must be worth a fortune!

All the items I picked up there were priced below what a militaria dealer would charge IMO.

This cap was a tenner, the hankie as I said was 2 quid, the Adrian was 30 nicker and the boer war patriotic cloth piece was another 20 spondoolies. All in all quite sensibly priced for them all and well worth the visit though it did involve a lot of walking around trying to find the gems.

I will be selling at a militaria fair on oct 4th and even at such an event there will be a few bargains to be had and also lots I can't afford as well as the overpriced.

    Agreed, LOL.

I gave it a light wipe down with a damp sponge just to remove the worst of the dirt and slid a badge into the slot just for now.
