u.s officer visor Original or Fake?
You have a very nice Officers summer 50 missions cap by Bancroft. The back strap indicates the so called 50 missions.
It is missing the little thin wire catch for the back strap ( no big deal )
Top of the line friend. It is a beauty.

hi , not sure of the time period of this cap. but bancroft is a well known maker of us army caps and caps for central and south american countries.....cheers paul
Good original wartime pattern cap.
Cheers, Ade.
very nice visor ! what is the device that is in the picture behind the eagle for?thanks
mine has a smaller eagle?
This cap looks new and unissued.
Apparently it is unusual for these caps to have retained this original shape - with the wire
stiffener inside - if they were worn. Guys liked the '50 mission crusher' look, and it was
also more practical when wearing headphones.
There are slight size differences to these badges, depending on the maker...........
Regards,
Steve.
This is a great hat! Bancrofts are top of the line and the fact that it has the "cavalry" or "50 mission" strap in the back AND is a summer hat AND is made by bancroft makes it fairly hard to find and desirable. The condition is perfect other than missing the metal catch in the back, and it is probably unissued as there is little wear to the sweatband and there are no stains to the sweat sheild.
I like it! I can also say that I'm not aware of anyone making fakes of these, even for reenactors. I believe that U.S. visor caps are one of the items left relatively untouched by fakers.
They make replicas for reenactors but the eagles are horrible and it is all fake leather with a plastic visor.
