    Default USAAF Olive Officer's Visor

    Hello all!

I picked up what I believe to a be WWII era USAAF Olive Officer's Visor. I compared it to other examples I saw on this forum and on dealer's sites and to me it looked ok. The construction seemed very similar, as did the material. It is made of wool and has some nothing to the top of the cap. The inner leather band is starting to come due to the deterioration of the stitching. The cap badge is a screw back. Any opinions on the cap would be greatly appreciated.

A pretty typical visor. Looks like it was stored incorrectly,
like in an attic or something, but I think it's ok.........
    Regards,

    Steve.

Came from a guy who seemed to like WWII collecting, but was not completely dedicated to it. Im glad to have it as it is my first visor.

Well, it's an authentic cap, but much more mothing on it than usually seen. Also has the quite common sweatband separation on US caps.
I hope you didn't pay much for this one. As you may know , they are quite common, with many for sale on Ebay, for example. I was lucky enough to pick up a very nice example, in ribbed twill material, with a tight sweatband, and two tiny moth nips, for only $ 51; it must have slipped under the radar.
You should be able to upgrade this one easily, if you like.

I paid about $10 USD for it. May not be in the greatest shape but for that price it is hard to pass up. Thanks for the confirmation fellas.

Can't beat it for $10! Even the parts are worth more than that. A good pickup.

Thanks guys! I love nice and minty items just like the next collector, but when a saltier one comes along at the right price I can't resist.
