    Default USMC WWII Fatigue Cap

    Hello

Here is my first thread on this Forum This was in the bottom of a seabag all crushed and smelling like mildew from almost 10' feet away. Soaked it in cold water and let it dry on a hat wring and it came out holding its original form. Including the eight prongs at the corners. Original owner's name can just be seen on the brim, Bock. Lost the mildew smell as well. All comments welcome....

Happy 235th Birthday to all Marines !

Welcome to the forum! Just a friendly reminder that there is a section on the board for militaria of the Western Allies. This board is for German cloth caps. Not a big deal, just so you know.

    Gentlemen:

I believe that the USMC wear "covers", not caps.

If I'm wrong, I'm sure some helpful Leatherneck will set me right.

    Semper fi, y'all.

Hi Thanks for asking, no markings except the original owners name. Believe this denotes an early one...?

    Hi Steve

Have been told this model is from WWII, has no original markings (denoting earlier model) or they have faded away. The ones from Korea have a makers mark i understand ?

    Hi Pat

Of course its a cover, not a cap. But wanted to paint a broader picture so to speak.
But thanks for being more accurate than i. Was uncertain how many knew the term cover except for us fellow Marines. Spent four in the Corps myself & saw lots of beautiful desert....
