What type Of US Navy hat is this ?

Hey guys I picked this up recently at a yard sale and I'm curious , what type of Navy hat is this? The condition is pretty good and I'm not sure if this is modern at all or if its worth the 8 dollars I paid for it. Any info you have would be appreciated.

US Navy deck hat. Price was fine.

First made in blue, then later post 1943 in OD, the official name is HELMET, WINTER, N-1.
