Merrowed edge patch which would make it post WWII. Likely made of synthetic thread, too.

On Mark Bandos site it says that the 506th patches were one of the few that were merrowed during WWII. It supposedly came from a WWII vet as well.
Not sure what to believe. This looks new - like a modern patch.

What gives it away that it's modern? Is Mark Bando wrong and they weren't merrowed edge?
And does anyone have a real WWII 506th pocket patch I could get?
Who is the 101st Vet it came from ? One sold on Ebay last year
(Nov 2011) for $535.89. I've seen them as high as $800.........
