    Mr Paragon man, nice display of kit there and being original makes it even better..The packet of smokes would make this man a very slack sniper...wouldnt go down to well a smoking bush!!! lol. Cheers for posting Terry

    I believe that it is a British type 69 grenade i.e a flashbang/concussion grenade made from bakeliite with a weighted cord to prime the explosive

    Superb collection by the way

    It was intended to be used in the open without need for defensive cover (i.e in an offensive role), as was less destructive than the Mills bomb. It did have a slight problem due to the large steel ball in the fuze mechanism, which would fly out at random and could hit the bloke that chucked it It was declared obsolete in 1947.
