Help with this eagle squadron patch

hi all
can i get your opinions on what this patch is and if genuine?
it is silver bullion and looks, feels and (funnily enough smells) old.
i know eagle sqn were americans who served in the RAF before the US came into the war but all the ones ive seen are cotton embroidered
any ideas

Never seen one like this before in bullion. I am not crazy about it, and would pass on it if offered to me.

I suspect that because it looks too new to be that old -folks have stated it's a repro.

If it were mine, I would carefully peel off the backing cloth just enough to reveal how the bullion embroidery was performed. If it looks like the Pakistani "hand made" patches -then it is probably fake.
