Will get them now
I wish I could make out what it on the too of mine. It's just an imprint and all I can make out is 12.00 at the end. So I don't know what it's from. Is there any way I could find out?
I cant get a good picture of it otherwise I would. You can see it in person but it doesn't really show up that well with pictures.
It's the whole upper left section of the letter. It starts at the top and ends just before the letter begins.
It might have originally been sold at a garage sale. It looks like it might be a description of the item with a price but I'm not positive.
Ok, heres some pics of our two. I have also included a scan of the writing on the back of one and also for the sake of interest, a scan of a similar letter that was sent out at the end of the War.
Those are cool! I wonder how mine stayed in such great shape?
It belonged to a member of the 506th. I've heard that they would either put them in their musette bags or in the liners of their helmets. Maybe that's why mine is in the condition it's in.
Has anyone else heard of Airborne troops doing this?
Nice examples !! Are you keeping them ??
Cheers
I am, they're all came part of groups. One came with a nice photo album and other documents and the other also came with photographs and documents.
