Guys, you may have found this Kangol made maroon beret on ebay.
It is clearly not a WW2 Kangol made beret! During WW2 the manufacturer's name "Kangol Wear Limited" was on a single line; in 1949 they changed to "KANGOL" and then "wear limited" stamped below. Note the different capitals!
Also, the second picture shows loops under the leather patch; this was used first around 1950 and it replaced the handstitched thread running around the inside.
Since the date stamp "M" was also used in 1954, my conclusion is that this is a 1954 Kangol beret. I'm almost certain that the Border regt did not wear a maroon beret at that time; at least the 1st airlanding battalion no longer existed at that time.
