In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig. CE

We as collectors have two ways to link ourselves to these long gone times of war; collecting militaria, and talking directly to veterans. It's always sad to hear that another warrior has passed away- our links to the past are ever passing one by one. We, or at least I, love to hold a military antique because of the feel I get when I hold it, the connection to battle, the sights and horrors, and growth of humanity that the item itself has seen and done. But talking to and meeting a veteran is a whole different thing. As times change, people change, and I feel that much of the youth population fails to realize the great things that these men have achieved, and the respect that they deserve. The world isn't the same anymore, but it could be a whole lot worse were it not for these men.
Hats off to you, Mr Hammersley, Rest in Peace!
