unknown AAC badge

I got this AAC badge last week, but it is different then others that I have, if anyone has some info about it, it would be nice

Philip,
Looking at the back of the badge, it shows the signs of being rough cast.
I suspect this badge was never a production piece, and was cast from an impression of a genuine badge.
.. The casting is actually very well done ..

That's possible Philip, ...
If so, I would think it might have been Africa / Middle East.

The quality of the cast is very good, ... I don't think an amateur would have made such a detailed copy.

No neither do I Gary, as like you said it is very well detailed

Certainly a well cast copy and it could be an original period item made in theater as mentioned. I have a few theater made cast badges for other regiments and it does compare well with them and I also have some iffy modern cast copies which look pretty poor so I tend to think it is a good example of the type.

If I had to guess, I would opt for this to have been made in Palestine.
There were some Para units close to the "freed Poles" in the middle east, and of course the variety of field cast Polish badges from this area are prolific. .... So, this could be a pointer to how and where it was manufactured.

...As a side note, The posts on Philip's badge look to be the squared type often seen on British brass shoulder titles.

A 1942 North Africa made example in well polished condition. Quite rare!
