US "SF" blades

These are not ww2 but I thought you SF guys might like them.

I have always had an interest in Elite forces. From British commandos to
Darby's rangers to the FSSF. From ww2 through Vietnam and beyond.

Most of my collecting interest in these areas has been some patches and
some fighting knives. ---- Here are 3 blades from the Vietname era.

A Gerber Mk2, a Randall model 15 and a John Ek model #2.

The Ek is named to a SF captain serving in Vietnam. He sent the knife back to the Ek factory (from Vietnam) to have a crossguard installed. Instead, Ek sent
him a new knife and this knife spent many years in the Ek showroom at the
Ek factory. This knife was bought from Gary Ek after the closing of the factory.
I have a letter from John Ek confirming the story.

Great info you have with the Ek model !

I have owned two 'modern' Ek knives ( Richmond era ) M5's.
The one I currently have is a double edged M5 Micarta..........

I did once own one of the WW2 Fairbairn Sykes "cast handle" fighting knifes issued to the US troops in Britain during WW2.
I gather these were (and are) quite rare ...

I gather the US special forces were impresssed with the Fairbairn, and ordered a batch for themselves.
..However, noticing the cast handle, .. it is fixed to the tang, and non-removable, unlike the British issue patterns.

I think the manufacturer tried to get away with a cheaper production method, and thus, these types stand out !

I'm an old biker from way back. Been riding for close to 40 years. Currently own a HD and
an old Triumph Chopper.

There was a thread showing a bunch of forum members bikes but the search function does
not seem to go back past the forum update ????????????
