It looks Italian, but I am not sure.

I could be wrong as I am not expert in these, but I have had a couple. I think it a second pattern Denison as it has the knitted cuffs, I am probably missing many other details though.
We need to know the actual colour of the snap fasteners. Brass are wartime, but nickle are post war and used on the 46 pattern smock.
1st pattern and 46 pattern had knitted cuffs.
2nd pattern had button and tab cuffs.

Going by your second pic(top right) it looks like it was once a full length zip now converted to half length?I could of course be wrong!Did you by this recently at auction?
