the date or issue number could be as early as 44
I would keep it. I have seen something like that at my local surplus, which has only cold war era stuff.
i figured it was probably cold war but havent ever seen one before which has me confused its stinky as heck so if i am gonna keep it it needs a serious wash if not ill offer it out to
It is from ww2,keep it .
I am getting ready to buy one for my collection for D-day.
On some of those items it is hard to tell because they use the same type for 30 years.
found this a close match Fashion from Classic Vintage and Military to the Latest Designer Styles - VintageTrends.com
chris pm me
my one has an earlier contract number than the one shown there is that a plus
man it looks like the one I was talking about, but I will have to dig way back in my ebay records, DONT wash it, just put it outside & let it rain on it. I messed up & washed my m-51 field jacket, fell down in some red mud when my crutch slid out from under me, it tore a small hole in it & made it unravel in places, DONT wash it, let me go back & see if I can find the one I lost, but I don't know if I will be able to find it, because I lost it,while I was trying to win the Korean war poncho, which I did win., will get back to you on it if I can find the other one.
