British Battledress Blouse

Article about: It is indeed a 1946 Pattern. The British ditched the hook and eye collar and went back to the pleated pockets. Quite rare now actually!

from what I can see, the formation signs appear to be, Royal Engineers Emergency Reserve, Transportation Unit. Post WWII. If you can post up a picture of the badges I could give a definite answer. John.

According to an article by Len Whittaker for the Military Historical Society (november 1985) the RE wore a dark blue plaited cord in 1950; red and blue was worn by the RAOC. I don't have a list for when your blouse was produced but it suggests the cord is incorrect.

The buttons are a different shade of green than I am used to seeing,
which would possibly indicate they are replacements ?

Or are they correct for post war uniform ?
    Regards,

    Steve.

    It is indeed a 46 pattern. Interestingly, I have a 46, 47 and 49 pattern all dated 1949.
