British BD P37.

Article about: OK this is way out of my comfort zone, as its usually the German stuff I collect, but would like a British WW2 BD to "balance" my collection. So the usual question is - is this OK?

To me it looks like a P37, but I'm not keen on the lining, there's also no labels or stamps or markings.

    Thanks in advance

Hi mate, wrong coloured lining for a '37' ,should be in tan, also collars were not lined, the buckle is also of the later '40' style, chunkier looking, whereas the 37 pattern are of the thinner wire stainless steel type. Maybe a tailor made example ?

Thanks Paul, would you say it's original wartime though?

I have not seen any wartime battle dress with dark lining like this. It doesn't have the right cut for British battle dress.

Is the stitching under the collar of the zig zag type ?

I'm not certain to be honest - these are just the sellers pics, I'll ask. Thanks for the quick replies.

Lining is very odd...especially around the arms on the inside and those triangles at the armpits...very odd and not seen on Battledress serge. Also never seen a hanging loop on the collar. It should also have two collar hooks. Could be private purchase maybe but I would have expected a better finish and a tailored collar.

Not saying its fake or repro just...different!

Thanks all for the replies, unless I could get it for next to nothing then its not worth the risk, so I think I'll pass on it.
