He's wearing the Expert Rifleman's Badge in the top photo...
good luck with your project..
cheers, Glenn

do you have any idea what uniforms they are?
-
Top shot is a- Coat, Service, EM, M1939 with a EM service cap
second is a- Jacket, Field, Wool OD "Ike Jacket"
You won't have a problem finding all of these and they won't break the bank

I can't help with the uniform, but I can flip the photo!

You'd be looking for something like these (just to show them in colour for you)

thanks for the help, i have one more question though. i dont remember where but saw that they marked his branch as not specified. What would it mean if he was unspecified? would this be the reason for the lack of patches on his uniforms in the photos? when the member of the forum looked him up he said it mentioned him being in the army. my dad said he was in the marines because he was on iwo jima or okinawa. he said he brought home a jap arisaka and hung it in his bar until it had been stolen. What do yu think in your opinion?

He is wearing Infantry insignia in the one pic, and perhaps he had
not been assigned yet, as you mention.........

Which photo and where? im sorry if it is right in my face and its a stupid question but i dont see it.
