Im not going to do it but could i sew a U.S rank patch on it and a unit insignia?

Suppose so, but I'd just leave it the way it is. I cannot recall exactly,
but I think the overcoats in 'Band Of Brothers' were plain..........

Yeah i just wanted to put my great uncles rank and insignia on it but it was just an idea and i dont want to do it

Hi Ryan, you have made the right choices. Never add insignia as you are spoiling the originality of the item. Dry cleaning can be OK, but not on this one with plastic buttons.

Give it a good brush down with a clothes brush, inside and out and pay attention to the seams. This will get rid of old dust and also any bugs. A good airing out of strong direct sunlight is best.
