need help pricing 2 ike jackets

found these on craigslist and was wondering how much each jackets and extras are worth before i bought them

Price sounds "OK" provided all insignia is originally sewn. This is the key issue here. The cloth insignia itself appears to be original. But it is very easy to put together a jacket. You need to study the wear, fading, etc and see that everything matches in appearance. The Parachute wings would really need a much closer back and front pic to determine if they are original.

Note the Airborne jacket is actually a cut down tailored four pocket tunic.

Cutting down a longer style tunic was a popular thing to do, BUT,
both Airborne patches are too far down the arm, IMO. I think
the regulations state a half inch from the shoulder seam.
As well, there is no 'oval' behind the jump wings, which
as Ade says, would need to be examined.

I also noticed another important feature/mistake - there are
two 'Good Conduct Medal' ribbons and two 'Victory Medal'
ribbons on the 1st Division jacket..............! ?

I'd pass unless they were extremely inexpensive, as I believe
both of them to be made up. If they were not, they would
go for several hundred apiece.

As is, I would spend no more than $35 to $40 each.

Hi Ryan, I can agree with Steve's observations. I missed the duplicate medal ribbons. I think that nails it as made up items.

I also took another look at the airborne jacket. Actually I needed to look at that again too, as I now think it is not cut down at all and is a full length four pocket tunic. I just took the sellers word on it being an "ike" jacket. It is not. As Steve and I mentioned, "Ike" jackets became fashionable in late 1944 and early 1945. Some troops who did not have them had service dress jackets cut down and tailored in Ike style jackets.

Can I ask a favour please? If you see an item for sale, please don't just add the link. These links will die in time leaving a useless thread. Always save the pics and add them here. Outside photo host sites also slow down our forum. I have added the pics to your last couple of posts.
