Post-war P47 due to roundy pockets and black steel buttons
-
Looks like first pattern HBT to me, the rounded pockets and black buttons are fine. The later pattern was simplified by the removal of the lower pockets.

I disagree, Im 100% sure it’s p47. Early patterns had square pockets and copper buttons. Steel black ena enameled are common in late WWII (mostly P44s) and Korean war period P47s. Also material is different that WWII P41. P47 had lower pockets too, same as p41.

This is the P41 type you should be looking for. It can be tricky to differentiate the two models I must say!

Here's one P47? and I'm not even sure about that!! Sleeves cut short.

Looks fine to me as well, Rene looks like you have a P47. After the war you see a lot of modified marine stuff like this. Also it seem to become more of a practice of painting rank. I had a nice nice marine hbt cap from the late 40s early 50s with hand painted EGA and rank
-
The stenciled ranks came about towards the end or just after Korea, so mid-50s. They started selling stencil kits at the PX.
-
Well, I would disagree. There are some photographs of stenciled ranks on P41s being used by 1st MarDiv during Guadalcanal campaign. There’s a photo of 1st Mardiv staff with gen. Rupertus cuting cake with a sword on Canal. Some NCOs behind him had stenciled ranks.
Of course uniform shown here is a example with 1950s stenciled rates.
