Sellers pics for now and this type was introduced toward the end of the Victorian period and phased out early in the 20th century. It has regimental buttons, probably silver plated, but is sadly missing its shoulder straps. It is an officers service tunic worn prior to the introduction of the Khaki SD uniform in 1902 and is as the title suggests correctly called a Scarlet Frock, as opposed to the more commonly seen tunic, which later became known as the parade/dress tunic. It does give me an example of 3 of the uniform tops from this period, this one and one each from circa 1910 for the Welsh and the Hampshires -see attached illustration of the types used.

adding the tunic and the blue frock to show them, both date from circa 1910 and are named with known history. Very pleased to get the red frock to complete the set of late Victorian/Edwardian uniforms.

Nice tunic! Now (Being Welsh and all) throw on your Pith helmet, grab your Martini-Henry and stand the line at Rorke's Drift!

New pictures of the two frocks with a new camera which captures the true colour better than mine did.

Adding a bit more detail, it is for one of the Volunteer battalions of the RWF, probably the 2nd or 3rd VB, dating to circa 1908 up to 1912. It is quite a hard one to research as it was a relatively short lived garment and as it is for an officer of a VB very few would have been made and it is the only known example of this type from this period to the unit, with none in the regimental museum collection, either on display or in the reserve collection.
